Please include your TV model, the system and game you were playing, and what happened. We usually reply within a few days.

Getting started

  1. Install CouchPad on your Android TV and open it.
  2. Put your game files in roms/<system>/ folders (for example roms/snes/) on a USB drive.
  3. In CouchPad, choose Add game folder and pick the roms folder.
  4. Make sure your phones are on the same Wi-Fi as the TV.
  5. Scan the QR code on the TV with each phone’s camera, type a name and play. No app is needed on the phones.

Common questions

Where do I get games?

CouchPad does not include or sell games. Use backups of games you own, or free homebrew games.

My TV has no folder picker.

Some Android TV models don’t include one. Put your games on a USB drive in Android/data/com.tunisolutions.couch/files/roms/<system>/ instead. CouchPad reads that folder without any permission (plug the drive in once with CouchPad open so the folder is created).

My phone can’t connect.

Check that the phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network (not a guest network) and that the phone isn’t on mobile data only. Some routers block devices from talking to each other (“AP isolation”); turn that off if you can.

Buttons feel slow.

Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi if your router has it. On 2.4 GHz most presses are still fast, but some arrive late. The TV shows each player’s connection quality, so you can see who needs to move closer.

A game crashes or runs slowly.

Newer systems (PS1, N64, PSP, NDS, PS2) need a faster TV box. CouchPad shows a warning when your device is likely too slow. If a game crashes, CouchPad tells you which emulator it was; email us the details.

How do I restore CouchPad Pro?

Sign in to the TV with the Google account you bought it with and reopen CouchPad. Pro is checked every time the app starts.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Google Play. See Google Play refunds, or email us and we’ll help.

Deleting your data

CouchPad has no accounts and we keep no data about you, so there is nothing to request from us. To remove everything CouchPad stored:

  • TV: Settings → Apps → CouchPad → Clear data, or uninstall CouchPad.
  • Phone: clear the site data for the controller page in your browser.

See the privacy policy for details.
